FHA/VA Roof CertificationAn FHA/VA Roof Certification is an intense evaluation of the entire roof or a specified area of the roof called for by the lender, mortgage company, or appraiser. The inspection includes an approved FHA/VA form be completed by the inspector, stamped, and forwarded to the appropriate parties involved. This form is a government backed form that makes the inspection company liable for its findings. DC Home Inspection Service provides this service when very few others will. We found that other home inspectors are not qualified or are unwilling to perform this type of inspection. Even roofing contractors will not certify their own work. This is where we come in... The certification can be performed "weather permitting" the next day after we receive the call. Our inspectors are certified for this type of inspection and can provide all the necessary forms, certificate of insurance, and paper work needed to keep this transaction moving. The reports can be printed on-site or faxed out immediately. The cost is typically $145.00 per report. This includes the initial inspection and completed paper work. If needed, one follow-up inspection for completed repairs can be performed at no additional cost. This is required if a roof does not pass it's certification on the first visit. The inspection fee is due whether or not the roof passed it's inspection. DC Home is not liable for worn or damaged roofs that can not pass FHA/VA minimum standards. The report, however, will suggest repairs needed to complete the certification. There is no charge for a roof certification if DC Home Inspection Service has performed a general home inspection with-in 30 days of the request. This type of inspection can also be used for insurance claims and storm damage, or when homeowner type repairs are made. We also do follow up inspections when a new roof has been installed to verify proper installation.
